As Christians, our bodies are meant for the Lord and not for sexual immorality (v 13). Set Apart to Serve Godġ Corinthians 6 points to several reasons that God requires us to be pure:ġ. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God ! And that is what we are! ( 1 John 3:1). So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith… ( Galatians 3:26). Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ( John 1:12). Note that the above passage tells us that, as his children, we were chosen “to be holy and blameless in his sight.” It makes sense that the children of God would be called to be like their Father. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will… ( Ephesians 1:3-5). For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. We are better than servants, we are heirs to the kingdom. As believers, we are set apart from the rest of the world and declared his children by adoption. God! The God of the universe, the King of kings. The attending or wait staff would be required to lead very particular lifestyles, committed exclusively to the king or queen’s needs and wishes.Īs believers, we are set apart by God. The personal automobile, for instance, of the king or queen would be kept spotless. It was set apart by someone considered to be important. would have even greater value by human standards. The unique purpose for that person, possession, day, item of clothing, etc., etc. Now imagine that a king or queen set something apart for a particular purpose. China is also more fragile and can break easily. Similarly, the pattern on fancy china would wear and dim with everyday use. Why not? They would get dirty and lose their unique function. You wouldn’t wash the car with the guest towels. They are reserved or set apart for special purposes or occasions. You get it: while some things in life are for common, everyday use, other things we possess are given more honor. Some of us have house shoes, shoes that are only worn indoors, or shower shoes that are only worn in the shower.Likewise, it isn’t uncommon to own “guest towels,” a couple matching sets of towels reserved for houseguests.Some people own special china, dishes, or silverware that are set apart for special occasions like holidays.What does it mean to be set apart? Think of it this way, many things in our lives are set apart for specific purposes: But the old has gone and the new is here. He has bought us back from the former way of life in which we used to live, and we have chosen to live in him and for him. “…the Lord has set apart the godly for himself” ( Psalm 4:3). This is Zion-the pure in heart, D&C 97:21.Why does sexual purity matter so much to God?
